Proteas Women are determined to win the second ODI and level the series when they face Bangladesh on Wednesday 20 December, at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom in the ongoing white-ball series.
It was a tough pill to swallow after the having lost the first ODI by 119-runs, and speaking ahead of the second ODI, youngster Eliz-Mari Marx is excited to be around such an experienced side and is hoping that Marizanne Kapp will be playing.
“I want to be the change and be the person that the captain can turn to, to get a wicket.”

Having played her first ODI in the green and gold, Marx felt it was a good debut for her. “I won’t say in the bowling department that I did my outmost best. I did not contribute as much as I would have liked to which is my skill, but I was glad that the batting stepped up a bit, and I could contribute to the team.”
“It is a good step for me, and it is going in the direction I want to go with my batting. Getting some runs and making contributions. It has been fantastic and the team has been very welcoming. I am really enjoying my time with them.”
Marx comes into the side as a bowling all-rounder and to bowl up front and be a strike bowler, but will also contribute at the back end with some runs.
“I find my feet in the moment. As I said the team has been very welcoming. People were open to questions that I had with regards my skillset, and I take those conversations into learnings and use that within the game.”
“There is no pressure to from the coaches, I add the pressure to myself to step-up. Kapp and Luus are senior players and I look up to them,” said Marx.
Speaking on the loss and how the team will tackle the last two games, Marx said “There was no harsh words. We were definitely not up to standard. Going into the next ODI, all our mind-sets are ready and we are ready to capitalise on what we have to offer. The coaches are disappointed but we obviously need to not look at the negative and look towards going away with a 2-1 series win.”
