Rosanne Hodge (19) of East London is one of 16 surfers world-wide to qualify for the elite 1007 ASP World Championship Tour.
The 2006 SA Team member, who finished third in the ISA World Surfing Games in California in October, made the cut at the final event of this year’s Women’s World Championship Tour event at Honolua Bay in Hawaii.
Rosanne completed her rookie year on the World Qualifying Series tour in style, and her goals include placing in the top five in the WCT before going on to become World Champion.
The Border star started surfing competitively when she was 10 years old, and represented South Africa for the first time when she was 12.
It was good news for Rosy but it was a sad day for Heather Clark of Port Shepstone, who failed to qualify for the WCT for the first time in seven years.
‘Fergie’ as she is affectionately known, has been a fine ambassador for South Africa while on the WCT, and it will be the poorer without her.
