South Africa Hockey has announced the U21 women’s squad on Saturday, 11 February, ahead of the 2023 Junior African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The tournament will take place from the 12-19 March 2023 in the city of Ismailia.
South Africa will look to end up in the top two of the competition so that they can qualify for the FIH Hockey Junior Cup that will take place in Santiago in Chile.
The Chile tournament is the 10th edition of the competition. South Africa finished 7th at the FIH Junior Cup in 2022 on home soil and will definitely look to do better this year.
The team selected has a number of Internationally capped players including the likes of Kayla Swarts, Morgan de Jager, Nstopa Mokeona and Taheera Augousti. Daniella de Oliviera, Laiken Brisset and Cerian Fourie (Reserve) competing in the FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup in Pretoria are also included in the squad.
