In a ground-breaking move, SA Rugby announced financial service provider FNB as official sponsors of the Springbok Women’s team on Wednesday, 10 August 2022.

SARU President, Mark Alexander announced the sponsorship, saying: “FNB answered our call to come on board to support our ladies team.

“Thank you, FNB, thank you for your on-going support of rugby in our country!”

This positive move comes at a time where the national women’s rugby team are preparing to represent the country at the 2022 Rugby Women’s World Cup, which is set to take place from 8 October – 12 November in New Zealand.

Over the past few months, the Women Boks team have been working through their programme with various test matches in preparation for the global tournament.

Their recent test against Japan ended in a 1-all draw, where possible lessons were taken away by the team.
