SA Surfers Continue to Impress

by | May 8, 2007

Eight South African surfers have won their heats and all twelve are still in the event after another action filled day of competition in the 2007 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships at Mata Beach, Costa Da Caparica in Portugal Monday (May 7).

Day Two of the competition was held in 2-3 foot waves, which were slightly better than the small, marginal conditions on the first day and the South African team took full advantage of the improved conditions to post some good results.

In the first round Nikita Robb scored a 10.74 heat total to win her first round heat, while Chantelle Rautenbach put 10.57 points on the board, to which Tarryn Chudleigh added just under 10 points, each winning their heats with ease.

Tanika Hoffman, the "rookie" in the girls group came second in her maiden World Championship heat, and joins her teammates in the second round.
There are updated photos of Team South Africa at the contest on the WP Surfing website, and all local press releases will be posted on the Surfing South Africa website daily.
