The Spar South Africa women’s hockey team was announced on Saturday 26 November 2022, for their upcoming match test series against Ireland.

The 6 test series is scheduled to take place from the 15 -20 December in Cape Town.
Over the past few years, these two teams have played 11 tests over two test series, with the most recent one in Dublin, in January this year.
The South Africans will use this test series as preparation for the FIH Hockey Indoor World Cup that will take place in Pretoria in February 2023.
Speaking on the series, Coach Lennie Botha says: “Once again we thank Spar for the support in running the series.
“Our focus is on testing one or two combinations ahead of the FIH Hockey World Cup.
“Ireland is a great opponent who have really put a lot of time and effort into indoor hockey over the past 24 months and we look forward to testing ourselves against them once again!”
