SA Women’s Indoor FIH Hockey Indoor World Cup Squad Announced

SA Hockey have announced the squad that will represent the country at the 2023 FIH Hockey Indoor World Cup, on Monday, 2 January 2023.

 

The tournament is set to take place at the Heartfelt Arena in Pretoria from 5-11 February 2023.

The renowned global event is being held outside of Europe for the first time, with the SA team set to compete against 11 other nations in the women’s division.

The 12 ladies that have been chosen include the experienced Jessica O’Connor, who has also been named as the women’s team captain.

Head coach Lennie Botha has expressed his optimism about their chances for the world event, saying: “We have had a wonderful programme over the past eight years with tremendous support from SPAR.

“It has allowed us to develop a team that we believe will represent the country proudly on the highest possible stage of indoor hockey.

“We went through a rigorous process to determine the final 12 but we believe we have selected a team that can challenge the best in the world, as we have previously shown we are capable of.”

The SPAR SA side will kick off their campaign against  Austria, followed by a clash against the Netherlands.
