SAFA Hosts CAF Zonal Women Instructors Course

by | Mar 6, 2020

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is currently hosting a Zonal Women Instructor course for the COSAFA region, in South Africa. This course runs from 5 – 11 March 2020 at the Hilton Hotel in Sandton.

The objective of the course is to introduce new female instructors to the region, build women instructor capacities and benefit from those instructors to develop women’s football in the COSAFA region.

In light of that, the CAF Development Division requested each Member Association in the COSAFA region to nominate two candidates for the course – the nominees, however, had to have high-level coaching experience and knowledge of football (i.e. coached/coaching at Top League of MA or National Team).

Nineteen (19) participants have confirmed their attendance, and Constance Whitebooi and Leah Sweetness Masango will represent South Africa.

Some of the topics that will be covered include:
Management of a Women Team
Reality-based learning and evaluation procedures
Profile and role of the instructor
Match analysis – during and after
Team Programming – in season/out of season
Talent identification
Case study: Women’s Football in COSAFA
Strategy Presentation
Player Development
Age-specific requirements for training
Match day Management
Formations/Playing systems
Characteristics of a good leader/coach
Psychology in Youth Football

The instructors of the course have vast knowledge of the game and they include Sue Destombes; Fran Hilton-Smith; Sheryl Botes; Jacqueline Shipanga and Raul Chipenda.
