The organisers of Stellenbosch’s “MTB Party of the year”, the Savanna Origin of Trails MTB Experience that will take place at the Blaauwklippen Wine Estate on Saturday 30 November 2019 and Sunday 01 December 2019, are proud to promote the building and maintenance of MTB trails in Stellenbosch by supporting the Stellenbosch Trail Fund (STF).
A registered non-profit organisation (NPO), STF is entirely funded by donations from local trail users and corporate sponsors. Since 2011 STF’s aim has been to create, improve and maintain – hiking, biking and running trails in and around the greater Stellenbosch.
“As a Stellenbosch based sports marketing agency, we love Stellenbosch and are spoiled for choice when it comes to mountain-biking and trail running. We are thankful to the STF for going the extra mile ensuring that Stellenbosch’s off-road community get to enjoy world class trails on their doorstep. It’s been a privilege to support the STF since the event’s inception in 2013 and we are proud to continue showing our support,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director Stillwater Sports.
According to Richard de Villiers, STF Founding Director, the STF is extremely fortunate to have the backing of Stillwater Sports and the Savanna Origin of Trails. “Stillwater Sports is known for organising quality events. The combination of Stillwater and the world-class trails in and around Stellenbosch is a perfect fit, to host one of the premier MTB events in South Africa.
“We will use the donation received to further enhance the riding experience on the Stellenbosch trails, especially the trails that form part of the STF Trail network. Our trails are permit-free, which enables all to enjoy our trails free of charge. We are entirely dependent on donations from the public to fund our trail-building and trail-maintenance teams and program. We cannot wait to be part of the 2019 Savanna Origin of Trails MTB Experience.”
Richard de Villiers (STF Founding Director) has the following advice for trail users:
* As trail-users we are responsible to maintain and improve our local trails.
* Please keep our trails clean by not littering. Please collect litter that is seen and put it in one of the many bins on our trails. These are regularly cleaned.
* Please do not ride the trails when they are very wet, as this damages our trails.
* Please continue to ride our trails as much as possible, as presence is the best deterrent to crime.
* Do not ride alone, but rather with a friend or friends as there is safety in numbers!
