After a hopeful start at Tennis SA Tuks International tournament at University of Pretoria, all South African players are gone from the tournament except for the country’s top ranked women’s player Chanel Simmonds, who defeated compatriot Ntokozo Zungu, 6-2 6-3, to reach the quarter-final round on Thursday, 3 October 2019.
Simmonds next faces her first seeded challenge of the tournament after Frenchwoman Caroline Romeo (seeded fifth) eased past India’s Sri Reddy 6-2 6-4 to book a quarterfinal date with the South African top seed.
