At just 21 years old, Owethu Ngubane of the SPAR Proteas is set to make a considerable mark. Her 2023 debut with the national team attests to her enormous potential.

“Sammy is such an exciting young talent. She brings a different style and versatility to our shooting circle,” Coach MacDonald expressed her excitement in the club’s official statement.

Sharing her journey, Sammy gives us insight into her path: “I had a bad start with netball in primary school, but I didn’t let that stop me. I’m proud of where I am now,” she said in the club’s statement.

Owethu’s co-signees at Strathclyde Sirens include 25-year-old Hannah Leighton from Walsall, showcasing her skills as a mid-courter. Completing the roster are Manchester’s Millie Sanders and the 23-year-old netball sensation, Hannah Williams, who already has a significant reputation in netball.
