Leading South African sprinter Isabel le Roux aims to qualify for the Beijing Olympics at the Yellow Pages Final Series taking place on Friday, 7 March 2008, at the University of Pretoria’s LC de Villiers Stadium.
Le Roux has enjoyed a string of victories during the Series, and will also be competing on familiar territory, as she trains at the same venue, and after her impressive victory at home in Oudtshoorn, Le Roux appears set for the women’s 200m.
"This is a great home-coming winning in front of my home crowd," Le Roux said afer her win in Oudtshoorn. "Even thought the wind prevented us from running fast times, I am happy. I look forwards to competing in Pretoria."
She has run 23.05 seconds in Germiston but she is determined to achieve the A qualifier of 23.00. "I am only running the 200m with the aim of achieving a sub-23 seconds," says Le Roux. "It will be great to achieve this before going to the Senior National Championships in Stellenbosch next week. It is now or never."
400m contender Estie Wittstock, who secured a time of 52.38 seconds in eThekwini and 52.56 seconds in Germiston, is also set to enjoy home ground advantage, as she chases the Olympic A qualifier of 51.55 seconds.
Tickets for the Yellow Pages Series Final will be available at the gate, at the LC de Villiers stadium from 3pm on Friday 7 March.
