South African U21’s top Pool A after three days of matches at the 2012 SA Women’s Hockey Interprovincial A competition with two wins from three matches, while WP, who have win from three matches, are lying second at the Randburg Astro.

SA U21’s beat Amathole 6-2 on Monday and followed it up with a 1-all draw with Western Province (WP) on Tuesday to leave them on seven points.

But with two more days of pool-stage matches, the field is still wide open with any of the six teams in the A-section’s Pool A in with a mathematical chance of making the semi-finals.

The story makes easier read in Pool B for supporters of Gauteng-based Kaspersky Southern Gauteng (SG) and Northerns, where defending champions SG and Northerns both have three wins from three matches, and are on nine points apiece, with Kaspersky SG ahead on a better goal difference, with both teams having given themselves excellent starts in their campaign to see the knock-out stage of the competition.

Kaspersky SG striker Pietie Coetzee is the top goal scorer of the competition with eight goals to her name, while her team-mate Tsoanelo Pholo on five goals. The Joburg pair are ahead of Northerns’ scorers Kylie Oosthuizen and Janine Porteous, who each have four goals to their names.

In the IPT’s B-Section, Northerns B leads the pack with a maximum 6 points from their two matches, while Southern Cape and the Kaspersky Nuggets each have a win and a draw in their completed matches for four points each, the Capetonians ahead of the Nuggets on goald diference.
