Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies continued with their CAF Women’s Champions League winning form, beating Wadi Degla 5-0 at Grand Stade de Marrakech on Thursday, 3 November 2022.

The title holders went into the match after a convincing 2-1 victory over Bayelsa Queens in their opening encounter, while their opponents were on the lookout to bounce back after a 1-0 loss to TP Mazembe.

Sundowns Ladies Off to Positive Start in CAF Champions League

 

Lelona Daweti got the goals rolling in the 10th minute when she bagged her third of the tournament.

Melinda Kgadiete, who replaced the injured Andisiwe Mgcoyi, added her name to the scoresheet in the 25th minute.

After the half-time break, Wadi Degla showed some intent to get the ball into the back of the net, however Sundowns were quick to recover their control over the match.

On the hour mark, Boitumelo Rabale struck to hand Sundowns a third goal of the match.

It was not long after as Rabale hit the target once again to grab her second goal and fourth for Sundowns.

In the 75th minute of the encounter, a brilliant cross from Chantelle Esau was netted in by Bambanani Mbane to close of the match with a stellar victory.

For her outstanding efforts on the day, Rabale was awarded the Player of the Match accolade.

The South African-based club will now turn their focus on concluding their group campaign with a match against TP Mazembe on Sunday, 6 November.
