New Zealand rugby player Portia Woodman has become the leading try scorer in Rugby World Cup history, in either the men or women’s competition.
Woodman, who plays Wing for the Black Ferns scored her 19th and 20th tries against Wales in the quarter-final round.
The 31-year-old overtook the record that was previously held by England’s Sue Day.

The two tries she scored against the Welsh in their 55-3 victory took her try scoring tally from five tries to seven tries from the three matches she played in the RWC tournament in New Zealand.
Woodman now leads the way on the individual try scoring standings, before New Zealand’s semi-final clash against France at Eden Park on Saturday, 05 November 2022.
“On the field, I completely lose track of what the score is or what I have done and what the team has done. I just do my job and keep going. It wasn’t until the end that the girls made me realize.” said Woodman.
The 31-year-old played a total of 22 tests, scoring 34 tries, since her first test debut in 2013 for the Black Ferns, with this being her second 15s World Cup, her first was in 2017.
