Great Surf for Billabong Juniors

The 11th annual Billabong Junior Series got off to a blazing start as more than 130 competitors were greeted with consistent overhead one to 1.5 metre (3-5 foot) waves peeling down the famous St Michaels-on-Sea point on day one of the four day event.

More than 130 of the country’s top surfers aged 20 and younger will be taking to the waves at St Michaels-on-Sea on the KwaZulu Natal South Coast from Thursday to Sunday for the first of five events in the R220 000 Billabong Junior Series.

Kirsten Clinches Kahuna Title

Kirsten Kingma (Hout Bay) was crowned the Kahuna Surf Series champion in the premier U16 girls divisions at an awards ceremony in Kommetjie on Sunday, after the completion of the third and final event of the 2006 series.

Kahuna comes to Kommetjie

Kommetjie, the epicentre of surfing on the Cape Peninsula, will be the venue for the third- and final event of the 2006 Kahuna Surf Series, where the top up-and-coming young guns of Western Province surfing will be crowned this weekend.  

Nikita Roxy’s Open and U18 Champ

National under 18 champion Nikita Robb of East London added two more titles to her impressive tally of victories, winning both the premier Open Division final and the Under 18 final at the 2006 Roxy Wahine Cup, presented by Peugeot and Samsung, at Durban’s Suncoast Beach, Sunday 3 December.

A record entry of over 120 surfers has been received for the Roxy Wahine Cup presented by Peugeot and Samsung which starts today (December 1) and ends on Sunday (December 3) when the Roxy Wahine Cup winners will be crowned on the lawns of the Suncoast Beach in Durban.  

Tanika Talks the Surf Up
