Boland Take Early Super Sixes Lead

The inaugural Super Sixes cricket tournament announced by Cricket South Africa in October 2007 commenced on the weekend, with the news that inclement weather abandoned play without a ball bowled in the Northerns v.s. KwaZulu-Natal fixture, while Free State claimed a home victory over Gauteng, and Boland beat Border in East London.

Leagues Off to a Flier

Well, the season’s first provincial cricket results are out today, and what reading they make! Reigning champions and Coastal League contenders Western Province stormed into an early lead in the season’s opening matches, leaving runners-up Boland, who were on a bye, with some catching up to do.

New Leagues for IPT Season

 Cricket South Africa has announced its revised fixtures and playing formats for the 2007-08 Inter-Provincial Cricket Leagues (Women’s Cricket Inter-Provincial Fixtures 07-08), in advance of the six commencing matches taking place on Saturday, this weekend.  

Cricket IPT Semis Settled

Playing away under fair conditions at the University of the Western Cape, Boland once again proved the cricketing power they are, after they beat Western Province by 6 wickets to claim another bonus-point win on Sunday.

Weekend’s Cricket Results

With five bonus point wins out of the six women’s provincial cricket matches played over the weekend, Boland and Northerns remain at the top of their respective Coastal and Inland Women’s Provincial leagues.

Coastal Challenge Heats Up

In the Coastal Women’s limited overs league this weekend, KwaZulu Natal women will earn four critical points care of a withdrawn Limpopo side in the first of their two away scheduled weekend matches, a bonus before a tough visit to Pretoria on Sunday to take on top-of-the-log Northerns at home.

Christmas Early for Mpumalanga

Mpumalanga put the KwaZulu Natal Inland Women in to bat after winning the toss on Saturday, and exploited their familiarity with home conditions to bowl the visitors out for a meagre 144, before getting home in shaky fashion to record their first win of the season.

Weekend’s IPT Cricket

This weekend sees the final action of the year for most teams in Cricket South Africa’s Women’s Inter-Provincial tournament, with only Mpumalanga and KwaZulu Natal Inland meeting next Saturday in Witbank.
