The South African women’s hockey side will be looking to build on their first Test victory when they clash with Ireland at Hartleyvale on Tuesday evening (start 7pm).
‘Setting the foundation for the season’ were the words from captain Marsha Marescia after a solid 4-0 win for the SPAR SA team over the Ireland team in the first match of the series.
Next year is an Olympic year, and the SPAR South African hockey team have moved into preparation gear with international matches lined up from early in 2008.
The SPAR South African women’s team easily qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing next year, winning the African qualifying tournament in Nairobi without breaking into a sweat.

There were no surprises in the selection of the SPAR South African Women’s Hockey Team for the upcoming African Olympic Games qualifier, which is largely unchanged after reaching the final of the Four Nations Tournament in Ireland recently.
Billed as the biggest tournament to take place in Ireland this year, the Setanta Sports Trophy sees some of the big hockey nations take to the field for the start of the Four-Nations tournament ending 17 June.
