Team South Africa earned second spot overall at the 16th African Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Cairo, Egypt.

The event which was held from 17-19 June, saw both the senior and junior teams win silver medals.
The senior team was represented by Kayla Rondi, Yulia Galukin, Shannon Gardiner and Stephani Dimitrova, while the junior team consisted of Chade Jansen, Kgaogelo Maake, Tricha Richards and Zara Roodt.

Individually, Galukin placed third overall as she represented South Africa at senior level.
The team could not have achieved this without the help of the coaching staff of Aimee van Rooyen, Tatiana Lavrentchouk-Vizer and Tazmiah Francis as well Robyn Mueller and Alisson Beyers who were selected as part of the judges.
