Day one of the Thembi Kgatlana Tournament kicked off at the Ace Ntsoelengoe Stadium in Mohlakeng on Wednesday, 11 December 2019.
The first fixture of the day saw SAFA National Women’s League-outfit First Touch Ladies facing off against Rand West at 09h00. The Limpopo-based side came out victorious after thrashing their opponents 15–0. Emmaculate Msipa of First Touch Ladies received the player of the match award.
The second fixture of the day which took place at midday saw Boss Cry facing off against UJ. Boss Cry led 1-0 at the half-time break, however, the University of Johannesburg ladies managed to pull one back in the second half and the side could not be separated after 90 minutes. The match went through to a penalty shootout which saw UJ defeating Boss Cry 6-5.
The final fixture of the day saw the University of Western Cape come out triumphant after thoroughly defeating Nicko Taurus 5-0.
Day Two of the Thembi Kgatlana tournament continues Thursday, 12 December 2019, which will see the first fixture being played between Mito Stars and TUT at 08:00 am, and the second fixture being Madibe Ladies taking on Standby at 11:00 am.
