Sailing Team
Isigungu is participating in the Delta Lloyd Regatta in the Netherlands, here is Dominique
Provoyeur with all the latest news:
Delta Lloyd Regatta – Medemblik, Netherlands,
24 May 2008
For the 3rd
day now, we have had exactly the same conditions, its been really fantastic to
be warm and dry coming off the water. We just wish though that by now we
knew where to go to break the top bunch! Even having said that, the whole
fleet gets to the top mark bow to stern, so maybe our problem is not which way
to go on the beat, but where we position ourselves for the final approach to
the top mark. Something to think about for today.
Yesterday though, we only had one good clear start. We experimented with
starting on the committee boat end a little, but we still believe that we are
more accurate with the port end approach, but now we also have to watch out for
Siren from Norway
and her team and they seem to enjoy challenging us for the pin more often than
not!
Results were also similar – 11, 14 and 7 I think. Still in 14th overall
but now close on 20 points out of the top 10. Its been done before, so as
they say "It ain’t over till we’ve finished".
3 more races today – 3 more starts to practise, 6 more beats, 6 more top mark
roundings…..!
