The Power of Recognition has once again shone under the gsport umbrella as #gsport17 Mail & Guardian Woman in Print finalist Mpumi Manyisi announces, via her Instagram account, that she has joined Etv’s The Morning Show as a Content Producer.
As one of the leading female writers for FARPost, Manyisi delivers fresh, thought provoking content every time she puts pen to paper. In her writing, Mpumi is a steadfast ally for Women’s Football and that has earned her a spot as finalist in this prestigious category.
Speaking to gsport’s Lonwabo Nkohla, Manyisi attributed her success to the support she’s received from those around her.
“I think I owe it to every Sport/News Editor that took a chance on me and gave me a platform to work, apply myself and express my talents. I also owe it to my family, they’ve been there for me since day one, even though they were not so sure about my career path and what it entailed, they were, however, supportive – seeing that it’s my happy space. That has played a major role in making me obsessed about succeeding at all cost.”
Her writing and the incredible work that she was doing behind the scenes at SowetoTV is duly paying off. It is every young women’s dream to move from campus or community platforms and into the more commercial, “official” spaces. That is why it is extremely important for hard work, passion and dedication to be recognised and rewarded through platforms such as gsport.
Manyisi speaks about production so enthusiastically, it is as clear as stars in the night sky that she’s truly found her calling.
“I love production because I’m a story teller at heart. I enjoy being the engine of the show, and being able to unify the team for a common goal of pleasing people who consciously consume the content we put out. I like that we can change mindsets and impact people positively through the television medium.”
She is shortlisted as a finalist alongside Dzudzie Faith Netshisaulu and independent rugby journalist Wynona Louw.
