Tiffany Ting-Hsuan Huang Victorious At the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship

Taiwanese Tiffany Ting-Hsuan Huang shot a final round 69 to win the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship by two shots in Pattaya, Thailand.

The 17-year-old is the first player from Taiwan to win the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship.

R&A and Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation Organized the women’s amateur golf tournament “Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific” or “WAAP” this year was held for the first time in Thailand at Siam Country Club Golf Course.

With 86 golfers from 21 member countries participating in the swing championships, the victor of this event will earn a spot in two Major Golf Tournaments. The AIG Women’s Open and the Avion Championship, as well as being invited to participate in major women’s amateur golf tournaments such as Augusta National Women’s Majors or ANWA and golf KLPGA Tour Hana Financial Group Championship.

Huang held a one-shot lead at 10-under over Thailand’s Natthakritta Vongtaveelap heading to the eighteenth hole in a driving rain, but she made a pressure approach to the green then finished for birdie to end at eleven-under and claim the title.

Speaking after her victory, Huang said: “I’m really excited because it’s my first time participating in this tournament. And it’s really fun playing with some great golfers. I’m really excited and nervous because there are many pressures. The last nine holes I didn’t play very well but I try to think positive. Winning a championship means a lot to me. I feel fortunate to win in this event. I would like to thank R&A and APGC for giving us such a great opportunity.”
