TUT beat Tuks to earn the 2021 Volleyball SA Club Championships title at John Barrable Hall in Benoni as eight teams battled each other for an opportunity to represent South Africa at The Zonal Club Championships.

The tournament which took place from 26-30 October, saw Tuks win 3-0 over NMU, VUT beat Gelvandale 3-0, while TUT didn’t fall behind on getting their first win against Explosives by 3-0 and UKZN winning 3-0 against Set To Kill.

Day two saw VUT continue their winning streak defeating UKZN 3-2, Tuks making sure that Explosives remain winless winning 3-0 and Set To Kill winning 3-1 over Gelvandale, while TUT secured a 3-0 win over NMU.

During the quarterfinals, Explosives came back from behind to defeat NMU 3-2, but it wasn’t enough to go through the semifinals, while UKZN won against Gelvandale 3-0. VUT and TUT made it through to the semifinals winning 3-0 and 2-1 against Set To Kill and Tuks, respectively.

VUT took third place after winning 3-1 over UKZN, while the finals saw TUT and Tuks battling it out.

TUT came out victorious defeating Tuks 3-0.

The team dominated the tournament with Tshepang Tefang winning an award for best server, Tebogo Sejewe taking best attacker, while Nthabiseng Morifi walked away with the best setter award.

The best blocker award went to Makhosana Dhlamini from VUT, best defender award went to Keshnee Moodley from UKZN and most valuable player awarded to Natasha Webber from Tuks.
