The women’s final of the USSA Gauteng Football League saw TUT Pretoria beat Vaal University of Technology to win the trophy for the very first time.
The league commenced in March with the top four teams in each section competing for three slots in the USSA Football National Club Championships, and the possibility of being crowned champions of the UGFL.
In less than 10 minutes into the game TUT was in the lead by 2-0, thanks to Bontle Mashillo who scored the first goal followed by Letago Madiba. Both teams had many opportunities to score but TUT were able to take advantage of theirs.
Roda Mulaudzi put VUT back into the game, ending the first half with 3-1.
In the second half TUT kept the goals coming in with Mary Nstweng and Zanele Chiya adding their names to the score boards. The game ended with TUT winning the UGFL trophy with 5 goals to 1.
TUT Coach Tebogo Mokae had this to say about their win: “It was a good game, we both had chances and the team that took their chances is the team that won. We both dominated and we had more than enough chances.
“Our next target is to prepare for the National Club Championships and defend our title this December,” said coach Mokae.
