Two Oceans Entries to Close

Runners are reminded to get their entries in for the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon before the February 18 deadline in order to secure their place in the 56 km ultra marathon and 21 km half marathon.

Various representatives from the race office will be at major marathons around the country on Sunday February 17 to take entries before the closing deadline – the Pick ‘n Pay Marathon in Bedfordview, Hillcrest Marathon in Durban and the PUMA Peninsula Marathon in Cape Town.

The quickest way to enter is online at the Two Oceans Marathon website, while hand-delivered entries will be accepted up until the evening of February 18. Postal entries will only be accepted if they are date stamped with the deadline date.

Any runners who are running their qualifying event on Sunday, February 17, will have up until midnight on February 17 to enter online. Race organisers have stressed that no late entries will be received.

According to race director Rowyn James, close to 3 000 entries have been processed in the ultra and 7 000 in the half marathon. "We expect these figures to more than double in the next week as more than half the race entries are usually received in the week leading up to closing date," said James.

For those participants wanting to be a part of this prestigious event, there are also various fun runs which take place on Friday 21 March at the University of Cape Town sports fields. Participants can chose from a 2.5 km, a 5 km and an 8 km run/walk.

There’s also a 56 m nappy dash for children aged under 3 and a toddlers’ trot for 3 to 6 year olds. For more information contact the rae office on 021-671 9407/021-6719761, email [email protected] or visit Two Oceans Marathon website .
