Janet Mbabazi and Consy Aweko starred as Uganda triumphed to a 12-run victory over Nepal in the first T20 game of their tour at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on Monday, 16 May 2022.

Nepal won the toss sending the visitors to bat first. Kevin Awino and Leona Mirembe Babirye’s opening partnership did not last as Kabita Kunwar sent Babirye packing in the first over.

Mbabazi then joined Awino and their partnership contributed 45 runs before Mbabazi was bowled out for 29 by Indu Barma.

Awino then joined the rest of the team in the dugout when she was dismissed by Barma. Uganda struggled at 48-3 in 12.1 overs.

Franklin Najjumba, Rita Musamali, Rita Nyagenda and Evelyn Anyipo each played instrumental roles as Uganda managed to total 102/5 in 20 overs.

Aweko and Sarah Akiteng went on to take two wickets each as Uganda skittled Nepal all-out for 90 in 20 overs to secure a 12-run victory.

Uganda vice-captain Janet Mbabazi walked away with the Player of the Match award.
