“I usually would be the only female in IRB Coaching courses I attended. Sometimes it would be intimidating but that is also where I learned to trust my abilities as a coach.”
In a previous interview with gsport, UWC’s Director of Sport, Mandla Gagayi, revealed the university’s policy to allow women to lead their female teams.
“We made it clear that we were not doing this at the expense of our men’s teams. We still support our men’s teams, but we also have to bring women’s teams to their level,” Gagayi pointed out.
“The buzzword in our planning meetings is always “Equity over Equality” and I am proud now that the following women’s teams, previously coached by men, are coached by women: football, cricket,” he concluded.
