The ICC has announced that Proteas Women all-rounder Nadine de Klerk is one of three players nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month prize.
De Klerk has put in some sensational performances, the latest being in the Proteas Women’s first ODI against England on Tuesday, 4 December 2024, in Kimberley. She made 48* runs off 28 balls, which saw her team seal a much-deserved six-wicket victory at the Kimberley Oval on Wednesday evening.

Despite the Proteas’ 3-0 home T20i series loss, De Klerk put in some big performances with bat and ball during the contest, as she was South Africa’s top run-scorer and wicket-taker.
She scored 80 runs and took four wickets in the calendar month. She put up a good fight to restrict her English opponents in the first two T20 matches, where she recorded 29 not out and two for 20 and 32 not out and two for 36, respectively.
Joining De Klerk as co-nominees for the monthly recognition are Bangladesh’s Sharmin Akhter, and England’s Danni Wyatt-Hodge.
This is Akhter’s first nomination after the 28-year-old hit a career-high 96 in their ODI series against Ireland which also earned a Player of the Match award. She continued where she left off in the second match, striking 43 to set up a five-wicket victory in Mirpur.
Meanwhile, Wyatt-Hodge who has amassed 280 internationals under her belt, has received yet another nomination thanks to her scintillating month at the crease during England’s T20i successes in South Africa.
Significantly, De Klerk’s bowling put paid to Wyatt-Hodge innings in the opening ODI won by the Proteas Women, will the public vote reward the dedicated South African with the global prize this month? To vote: Click HERE to login and vote at the ICC-Cricket.com website.
