The University of the Western Cape (UWC) has surged ahead in the 2023 Hollywoodbets Super League standings after beating Copperbelt Ladies on Saturday, extending their lead to 12 points.
This came as defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies missed out on securing maximum points after being held to an away draw.
Despite having three games in hand, the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns faced a significant setback when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Royal AM – the only team to defeat them this season.
The reigning champions, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, played their first league match since August 26 due to their involvement in the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers and postponed fixtures.

In their next match, they face the challenging TS Galaxy Queens, who previously defeated them 2-1 in a match.
JVW, who are in third place, won 3-0 against TUT in Pretoria. They kept a clean sheet for the second time in a row and scored a total of seven goals. The Blue Diamonds now have 50 points, just one less than Sundowns Ladies, but JVW has played three more games. TUT is in 11th place.
