Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are showing steely determination as they secured a 1-0 win over the Tshwane University of Technology Ladies FC in their Hollywoodbets Super League match at Lucas Moripe on Thursday, 23 November 2023.
Coach Jerry Tshabalala made it clear ahead of the game that this team that his team are going for the treble, a feat they achieved back in 2021, and that one goal was all they needed to seal an-all important victory in pursuit of that goal, as they look to add the league title to their recent CAF Women’s Champions League win earlier in the week.
Sundowns Ladies are stating to close the gap on log leaders UWC. The Brazilians are now on 69 points, with the Cape side on 72.
Khunjulwa Mali sealed the three points for Sundowns in the 25th minute. Some nice running down the wing saw Mali pick up a pass in the box and she made no mistake, slotting it past the TUT FC keeper, Jessica Williams.
In the other game of the JVW FC got a big win over Royal AM at the UJ Soweto Stadium, with the Johannesburg team are now in third place on 60 points, and will replace TS Galaxy Queens who will drop down to fourth place.
Matches resume on Saturday with University of Pretoria take on First Touch Academy in the only game on Saturday, kickoff is at 3pm.
Sunday sees a bumper day of seven matches, Coal City Wizards taking on City Lads are first up at 1pm.
Sundowns Ladies will look to stay on their winning run who they face Thunderbirds FC. A win for UWC is imperative, to hold on to the top spot against Durban Ladies.
TS Galaxy Queens are up against up against Copper Belt Ladies. UJ FC take on JVW FC, while bottom of the log Ma-Indies Ladies face TUT FC. Royal AM host Richmond FC. All these matches kickoff at 3pm.
