Kristen Bishop has been elected to the position of Vice-Chair for the Wits Wargames Club at its Annual General Meeting in its club room at Wits University, on Tuesday, 20 March 2013.
Bishop first represented Wits in the 2012 SA National Championships where she picked up a very credible third place finish, to be beaten only by Johannes Botma (2012 Free State Provincial Champion) and Lyrene Kuhn (who represented South Africa in the women’s division of Tekken at the 2012 World Championships).
Mind Sports South Africa does not separate men from women in competition.
Certainly, the success that Bishop had in December 2012 has sparked her interest in not only going further, but also to put back in order to enable more females to succeed at mind sports.
Bishop is dismayed that there are so few women who play in the games run by mind sports, even though women can compete as more than equals in this regard.
Bishop’s election to the position of Vice-Chair for the Wits Wargames Club thus has huge ramifications for the club and the development of women in the sport.
