The 2022 Momentum gsport Awards has been an on-going conversation since the live premiere on SuperSport on Wednesday, 14 September.

Guests in attendance at The Wanderers Club had the opportunity to celebrate individuals who are playing their part to advance women’s sport across the globe.

On the red carpet, #gsportLIVE host Babsie Kutwana and gsport Content Lead Celine Abrahams had the pleasure of chatting to women in sport about the importance of the awards platform.

SuperSport TV Woman in TV finalist Tumi Kgasoe, who was lauded for her continuous strides in the sport media space, revealed her major takeaway, saying: “One thing I am taking from this is that it’s okay to celebrate yourself and celebrate each other.

“Also, the fact that when you are out there you are not only doing it for yourself but you are actually inspiring others out there. Whether you are winner or not, as a finalist I am already feeling like a winner.”

Women in Radio finalist Xolile Mabuza shared similar sentiments and was ecstatic to be recognised for the work that she puts into her craft.

“Power of Recognition firstly, means women are recognised for the work that they do and for me personally it means someone is seeing me and being recognised by gsport means I am doing well and should continue inspiring other young women in sport.”

As the night went on and awards were being handed out, not only was there celebration in the air but a sense of inspiration and motivation rubbed off on every person in the room.

Social media has also been abuzz, as winners, media personalities and guests have expressed their gratitude and special moments.

Supporter of the Year winner Nakedi Thlathla, who attended the awards for the very first time, joked around in her Tweets asking what should award winning girls have for breakfast!
