DHL Western Province will look to claim another Women’s Premier Division title, while this year’s log leaders, Bulls Daisies, will be on the hunt for their first-ever title as a professional contracted squad.
WP took on last year’s champions Border Ladies at City Park in Cape Town. Both teams have met before in the finals post the COVID pandemic, with Border winning both (in Cape Town). But this time around it was the ladies from Cape Town who showed class, beating the Eastern Cape side 27-15 to book their spot in the final against the Bulls Daisies.
Tries were scored by Alichia Arries (2), Chumisa Qawe, Donelle Snyders and Anelisiwe Mxabo.
While in Pretoria, the Bulls and Boland Dames were both aiming to reach the final, but there was only one winner and it was the home side. They dominated the game from start to finish beating the ladies from the Western Cape 64-8.
The Bulls have been dominating the tournament since the start and have remained at the summit of the log standings, with WP behind in second.
The question is: who will be crowned 2023 Women’s Premier Division Champions? We will find out come Saturday, 26 August!
