Lions, Titans and KwaZulu-Natal Coastal put in the hard yards with spectacular runs at the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Girls Under-16 Week in East London.
The three teams have been unbeaten throughout the competition the past week.
Lions’ Sinako Mahlombe claimed 10 wickets in the four games she played. The rising youngster returned figures of 4/9 in their opening win against Western Province, who they edged by two wickets and claimed two wickets apiece in victories over Border (2/7), North West (2/10) and Northern Cape (2/5).
And from the Highveld, the girls won their other three matches by 164 runs, seven wickets and 75 runs, respectively.
Their neighbours from the north enjoyed success against Free State by seven wickets on Day 1, followed by 10-wicket win over Boland, Kei by 32 runs and an eight-wicket victory over Western Province.
Top performers for the Titans were Lesedi Madisha taking an impressive nine wickets, while Janicke Janse van Rensburg hit top scores of 36, 23 and 35 on three occasions.
KZN-Coastal also emerged victorious after ousting Eastern Province (five wickets), Limpopo (60 runs), Northern Cape (seven wickets) and North West (four wickets).
Andiswa Ndlovu was the rising star after she claimed a total of 13 wickets, including a best return of 5/16 in the big win over Limpopo.
North West all-rounder, Diedre van Rensburg posted the only century of the week when she struck 105* in a day two win over Easterns. She took 3/34 in the same game.
A day earlier, Van Rensburg made 68* and claimed 3/12 in an 84-run win over Border, although her team lost on the remaining two days.
