South Africa’s Banele Shabangu grabbed her first individual World University Games medal after she scooped bronze in the women’s 200m event at the FISU World Games in Chengdu, China on Friday, 04 August.
Before heading into the final, the 21-year-old set a personal best of 23.09s in the semi-finals. She then went on to clinch third place in a time of 23.29s.

It was Nikola Horowska of Poland who finished in first in a time of 23.00s and country mate Marlena Graneszewska in second place in 23.20s.
