Netball South Africa has finalised a rotated Spar Proteas squad for the 2026 Africa Netball Cup, with Kamogelo Maseko named captain of a 12-player team that will defend South Africa’s title in Nairobi, Kenya, as announced by the federation in Pretoria on Tuesday 25 August 2026.
The tournament will be held in Nairobi from Saturday 19 to Saturday 26 September 2026. South Africa is the defending champion after winning the women’s title last year.
Following the team’s recent participation at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Spar Proteas head coach Jenny van Dyk has made some changes to the team for the tournament, with some senior players being rested.
“The Africa Cup provides our Spar Proteas head coach with an opportunity to rotate her squad and build depth and capacity within the team. We have contracted seventeen players with ten more as training partners,” said Netball South Africa president Mami Diale.
“If ever there was an opportune time for the coach to assess the capabilities of other players, this is it. We have full confidence in the coach and the team selected.”

The squad is Rolene Streutker, Nonsikelelo Mazibuko, Maseko, Owethu Ngubane, Kyla Dames, Karla Victor, Refiloe Nketsa, Sanmarie Visser, Thulisile Maduna, Nozipho Ntshangase, Juanita van Tonder and Tinita van Dyk.
Three players have been included in the squad as non-travelling reserves: Sanelisiwe Ntobela, Phophi Nematangari and Luca Keun.
Maseko will captain the team during the tournament. The squad will assemble in Johannesburg on Monday 14 September before heading to Nairobi on Wednesday 16 September 2026.
“Playing Africa Cup is always a challenging but exciting task – this year’s tournament is particularly special because it gives us an opportunity to rotate our squad, see some players and try out new combinations in an effort to solidify depth in the team as we build and prepare for 2027 Netball World Cup in Sydney.”
