The Sanlam Boland Dames produced the result of the round with a hard-fought 21-15 derby victory over DHL Western Province to move into second place on the 2026 Pick n Pay Women’s Super League 1 standings, while the Isuzu Bulls Daisies extended their perfect record with a 52-9 win over the Free State Women, as the penultimate round of the provincial showpiece delivered compelling action on Saturday, 21 March, 2026.
The Golden Lions Women snatched a dramatic 19-18 victory over the Sharks Women thanks to a converted try in the dying minutes at KP2 in Durban, while the EP Queens blitzed the Border Ladies 36-10 in the Eastern Cape derby at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha. The results leave the Dames two points clear of third-placed WP heading into the final round of league matches, with only the top two sides qualifying for the grand final on 4 April.
The Western Cape derby in Wellington lived up to its billing. It was tight at the break with the home side holding a slender 7-5 advantage, before DHL Western Province edged ahead early in the second half through an Elme Kruger penalty goal. In a glorious spell of rugby, scrumhalf Felicia Jacobs ignited two try-scoring opportunities that proved decisive, starting the move that sent lock Mihlali Mgweba over for a stunning try.
Jacobs then sparked another attack that released Arthea King, with replacement Chloe Adams converting both second-half tries to push the lead to 21-8. Western Province responded with a converted Donelle Snyders try to cut the deficit to six points and applied sustained pressure in the closing stages, but the Dames held firm with desperate defence to secure the victory and move to 24 points on the standings.

In Bloemfontein, the Daisies delivered a workmanlike performance against a gutsy Free State side, leading 28-6 at halftime before running out 52-9 winners. A strong wind disrupted the visitors’ plans to play expansive rugby, but they reverted to a power game and eight different players crossed for tries.
Flyhalf Anelca Hess kicked three penalty goals for the hosts, who also held the Daisies scoreless for the final 18 minutes. There was a special touch to the match as the hosts honoured the memory of former Springbok Women centre and Free State player Daphne Scheepers, alongside former national captain Lusanda Dumke, both of whom passed away last year.
The Lions’ late triumph in Durban was the most dramatic finish of the day. The visitors exploited a first-half yellow card to lead 12-0 at the break, but the Sharks fought back through tries by flankers Nobuhle Mjawara and Nomonde Mbanjwa, combined with two Mary Zulu penalty goals, to take an 18-12 lead with three minutes remaining. Replacement Zonke Sethi then crossed and Kirsten Cox nailed the match-winning conversion.
In Gqeberha, the EP Queens raced to a 24-0 halftime lead at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, with forward tries from Amahla Nyoba, Olwethu Kasibe and Phelisa Mrwebi before wing Joanne Boesak secured the bonus point. The Border Ladies rallied in the second half through tries by Unathi Mali and Aviwe Basana, but the Queens had already signed, sealed and delivered a commanding 36-10 victory.
