Bregman Wins in Nelspruit Battle

South African Stacy Bregman took the title at the Pam
Golding Ladies International played at the Nelspruit Golf Club on Saturday, when
she finished with the second-best score carded on the final round, the 71
contributing to a tour -8 under par card for the 54 hole event.

Bregman, who led the field since from beginning of the
tournament, had a flying start to her final round today, and it was clear that
she had her eyes on the title when she converted four straight birdies on the
first four holes.

Her tee shots off the par four 6th and 9th holes both found
the rough. She dropped shots on both these holes and turn on -8 under par.

With a great drive off the 10th tee inviting a superb
approach shot, Bregman positioned herself for a simple birdie putt. The tough
par three 13th hole caught Bregman, when she three putted and dropped a further
shot.

Hitting her ball close on the par-four 15th, she rolled in
yet another birdie putt. The 16th hole was her only real blemish of the day,
when she pulled her approach shot into the bunker, it then took two attempts to
get onto the green.  She missed the putt and took her medicine with a double
bogey.

Bregman then parred safely home to take the title four
shots clear of her nearest rival. "I’ve had a really great tour, and with
today’s win, I’m very excited about next week’s Telkom Women’s Classic at
Zwartkop Country Club" said a very pleased Bregman.

Tied for second place was South Africa’s Morgana Robbertze
and Danish player Lisa Holm Sorensen carding final rounds of 71 finishing on -3
under par for the tournament. The best round of the day came from Italian
Margherita Rigon with a final round score of 70.

Remaining ahead of her fellow amateur players was Gauteng’s Tandi
Cuningham who closed on +8 over for the tournament to take the leading amateur
title.

Starting on Wednesday next week, the Ladies African Tour
moves to Centurion’s, Zwartkop Country Club, for the final event of the tour,
the Telkom Women’s Classic.
