Burn victorious in Borland Surkski Challenge

Defending champ Michelle Burn (neé Eder) get her title defense off on a positive note as she claimed a hard fought victory in Friday evening’s Borland Surfski Challenge, race one of the Varsity College Marine Surfski Series, whilst hundreds of KZN’s surfski community also enjoyed the commencement of Durban’s hugely popular summer series.

Burn crossed the line shortly ahead of fellow newlywed Danica Bartho (Voster), 2012 Olympian Tiffany Kruger, Varsity College’s Jenna Ward and the ever-consistent Bob Oppermann.

The series opener saw just under three hundred surfski enthusiasts take to the water setting a positive tone for the rest of the series and particularly the second leg, the Billy the Bums Surfski Challenge, which takes place on Friday 18 January. More info can be found at www.marineseries.co.za
