CAF will be holding its first-ever coaching course for Women Coaching Instructors, in Johannesburg, South Africa, from the 28th of October until the 4th of November 2007.
“This long awaited course will be invaluable to the development of women’s football,” said Fran Hilton-Smith, “As all countries can share their ideas, problems and plan the way forward to uplift women’s football in Africa.
“Women’s football in Africa is still a sleeping giant in world football, and lack of competition and infrastructure, amongst others, has hampered teams from becoming world champions.”
Fifty female participants from all over Africa have been invited, while administrative course, also for fifty participants, will be held at the same time, at the Balalaika Hotel in Sandton.
Presentations and practical sessions specific to women’s football will be conducted by CAF Technical Director Abdel Moneim Hussein, FIFA and CAF Instructor Fran Hilton-Smith (SA), CAF Technical Committee representative Ben Koufie (Ghana), CAF Instructor Ulrich Mathiot (Seychelles) and a guest presentation by Serame Letsoaka (SA), also a CAF Instructor.
