The Copper Queens, as the national side are affectionately known, are sole representatives for Africa and will be expected to show up on the global stage.

“100 days till the biggest sporting event in the world, the @Olympics,” Tweeted the Zambians.

“100 days till we represent the hopes of the entire continent. 100 days till we show up at the biggest stage of them all.

“We are Copper Queens, and we are ready for the challenge.”

The Bruce Mwape-coached side recently played a friendly match against Banyana Banyana, where they encountered a 3-1 defeat.

They will be hoping to gain further game time to sharpen their tools before jetting off to Tokyo for the tournament which will take place from 23 July.
