In preparation to host 16 of the of the world’s top netball nations, the Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island Museum at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town was a hive of activity on Monday, 8 May 2023.

The Netball World Cup mascot, Letsatsi also made an appearance, playing games with the public in awareness of the upcoming global showpiece.
In April, a similar activation was held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), where the World Cup action will take place. The national Department of Sport, Arts and Culture alongside Cape Town mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis and Netball South Africa president, Cecilia Molokwane were present for the official 100-day launch by unveiling a road painted mural near the CTICC.
This activation was then followed by a #NetballFriday launch led by the National Department of Sports, Arts and Culture held in Tembisa. With the appearance of South Africa football legends and other dignitaries, the public was encouraged to keep on supporting the Spar Proteas as the countdown continues.
