The Egyptian national women’s youth handball team defeated Guinea 35-31 to win their 4th consecutive Africa Women’s Youth Handball Championship title in Conakry, Guinea.

The Egyptian side had been preparing for this continental youth showpiece in Poland and were in a class of their own as they outclassed all their opponents.

They, however, found their match in the final round when they faced the host nation Guinea.

The first half of the game was extremely close as both teams put up tough performances, but it was Egypt who headed into the half-time break leading 14-13.

The Mariame Bangoura-captained side put up a brave fight in the second half to try bounce back on the scoreboard, but the Egyptians capitalised on their mistakes to win the game 35-31.

The top three countries from the tournament – Egypt, Guinea, and Algeria – have qualified for the 2022 Women’s Youth World Handball Championship scheduled for Georgia in August.
