Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon continued to make history at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, as she added a second gold medal to her tally on Saturday, 26 August 2023.
The 2023 Momentum gsport Awards DP World African Woman in Sport award finalist won the 5000m crown, after a stellar performance earlier in the week which saw her win a third world 1500m gold.
Speaking to after her race, Kipyegon said: :”This has been an amazing year for me,” Kipyegon said. “Making history today, winning two gold medals in a championships is what I was dreaming for this season.

“I have been patient waiting to be able to break world records and win double golds. But my dream just came true, it is amazing. I have been pushing myself to the limits and I will continue to push myself in the future,” she concluded.
