Zimbabwe’s long-distance runner, Fortunate Chidzivo, won the Totalsports Two Oceans Half Marathon in staggering fashion in Cape Town on Saturday, 16 April 2022.
The Retail Capital Langa athlete outdueled Ethiopia’s Kore Tamiru Gelaye to claim gold in 01:14:49, just 25 seconds ahead of Gelaye.

Another Zimbabwean, Caroline Mhandu of Maxes Elite, completed the podium finishing third in 01:15:30, while South Africa’s Laura Labuschaigne finished 4th.
On claiming the gold medal, Chidzivo said: “Every year my wish is to attain a podium finish and this is a dream come true.”
