Team South Africa make a good start in small surf on Day One of the 2007 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships, which began in 1-2 foot marginal but glassy surf at Costa Da Caparica in Portugal on Sunday.
Five of the six South African men advanced directly to Qualifying Round Two with the charge led by team captain Klee Strachan.
Day Two (Monday) will feature the first women’s action in the tournament with the U18 Qualifying Round One getting under way.
Girls representing South Africa at the champs are Chantelle Rautenbach, Tarryn Chudleigh, Nikita Robb and Tanika Hoffman, who are all competing in the U18 competition.
