South Africa’s Heike van Vuuren claimed the girls’ singles title at the ITF/CAT African Closed Junior Tennis Championship in Sousse, Tunisia on Friday, 1 April 2022.
Vuuren outshined 4th seed Feryel Ben Hassen from Tunisia (6-3)(6-4) to book a spot in the final against her South African counterpart, Leigh van Zyl, who had outclassed Kenyan top-seed, Angella Okutoyi (3-5)(5-7).

Heike van Vuuren and Devin Badenhorst both proved dominant as they won the girls' and boys' singles titles, respectively, at the U18 ITF/CAT African Junior Championships on Friday.

In an encounter that could have gone either way, van Vuuren showed commendable grit as she converted her chances to seal the victory in the final.
The Egyptian pair of Jermine Sherif and Layla Shoukry defeated van Vuuren and van Zyl (6-4) (6-3) to emerge as the girls’ doubles champions.
