Former world number one tennis player, Billie Jean King has lauded three-time Paralympian and world number five, KG Montjane, after she reached the Wimbledon women’s wheelchair singles and doubles final for the first time ever.

King took to Twitter and said: “Congratulations to Kg Montjane on earning her way to her first #Wimbledonsingles final in Wheelchair Tennis.
“She is the first South African black woman to reach a Wimbledon singles final.
“Kgothatso Montjane has also reached the doubles final as well!
“Keep going for it!”
The four-time Momentum gsport Awards winner beat Japan’s Momoko Ohtani in three sets 7-6(3), 4-6, 6- to become the first black South African to make an appearance in a Grand Slam singles final.

The 35-year-old came back from two games down in the final set and worked towards her victory, breaking Ohtani’s serve three times to secure her spot in the Wimbledon final.
Montjane will face top seed Diede de Groot of the Netherlands.
In an interview recently, Montjane was asked was inspires her personally and her response was: I live by a simple principle: “To whom much is given, much is expected.” I think that’s something everyone can apply, and be inspired by. It reminds me to always be the best version of myself.
Double Glory
Montjane continued her winning streak on Friday afternoon, when she paired with Lucy Shuker to defeat Dutch top seeds, Diede de Groot and Aniek van Koot, 6-3, 3-6,7-5, to earn a spot in the double final.
