The Sasol Women’s League is well underway with teams jostling for the places at the top of the respective logs.
Nav Galaxy Ladies FC and Sophakama Ladies Football Club occupy the top of the standings on the Eastern Cape coastal stream with both on 18 points, while Executive Ladies are the Inland Stream frontrunners, having amassed 18 points for a six-points clear lead over second-placed Eastern Cape Peach Lovers FC, who have 12 points.
Ixias FC leads the Free State 1A stream standings after four matches with 12 points in the Group, while Kovsies FC and Central University Free State are in a tussle for the top spot in the Free State 1B stream, with Kovsies flying high boasting an astounding tally of 53 goals in just five matches.
It’s Mito Ladies who has a narrow lead over the University of Johannesburg FC (UJ FC) in the A Stream in Gauteng, and FC Raycon Ladies hold a three-point lead over second-placed Croesus Ladies FC in Stream B.
Newcastle Chess FC are also banging in the goals in the KwaZulu Natal Steam A to see them to the top their table, the central KZN team is sitting on 31 goals in six matches. Ezemvelo Women’s FC holds a slender one-point lead over Romans Stars in Stream B.
Limpopo sees Marumo Gallants FC lead the way in Stream A, however, their one point lead over Ramatlaohle Ladies FC might not mean much if things go down to the wire as their opponents have a far superior goal difference at this early stage of the competition. It’s all even at the top of the log in Stream B as Sinthumulekutama FC on 15 points leads Rodadau FC on 12 points, and enjoying a healthy 4-goal difference cushion.
In Mpumalanga, Sasol Juventus Ladies FC has a healthy four-point lead over Two Touch FC in Steam A, Super Strikers Ladies FC and The Rockets FC are level on 21 points at the top of the provincial Stream B.
NWU Tawana FC have made the most of their two extra matches for a three-point lead over Tswelelang De’ Scorpion FC at the top of North West’s Stream A, while Mafikeng Ladies are one point ahead of North West University in Stream B, who have a game in hand.
Not much separates the two top-ranked teams in the Northern Cape Stream A’s teams as Black Spurs and NC Consciousness Ladies FC are both sitting on 12 points after five matches each, log leaders Spurs leading on a 3-goal difference. Diamond Ladies FC is the leader in Stream B with four wins in five matches, while second-placed Royal Wizards boast a superior goal count for their three wins against two losses to date.
Only a few games have been played in the Western Cape’s Stream A, but during this early stage of matches, it’s Goal Hunters who are leading the standings, three points ahead of UCT, who have netted more than twice as many goals. RV United are the team atop of Stream B with 26 goals in three matches, as debutants Stellenbosch University are sitting in second place on the log with two wins in three ties.
